to be honest it's a small miracle that dota 2 is going like this for so long while being under such incredibly awful and lazy company like valve
Like the game itself isn't bad, they have actually been doing a half decent job of keeping the game play interesting although we've been in the same meta for about 6 or 7 months now. For me its the community that's the issue. I feel like all the decent players in pubs that would communicate and actually play the game have been chased away by all the idiots that spam "?" or "jaja" in games, myself included.
my games prett much are me trying to keep my teammates from tilting and stop them from flaming each other nonstop, feels like an asylum for mentally ill
people
^ this sums up dota pretty well
and valve somehow thinks that this is completely natural and acceptable game experience
Either you prevent your teammates from tilting or you give no fucks about them and brainstorm hard enough to try to outsmart/outplay the enemy team to win
Both are equally shitty
I've been messing around with substitutes for DotA and sadly League is the best one I've found so far lmao. People in league are much more chill than DotA players are. You have to lock your account to a region instead of queuing different ones, which means people you play with actually speak the same language as you and can communicate. Sure you get a toxic player every now and then but you can just mute them and the rest of your team will probably do the same. Only downside I've found is that there is no voice chat. This can be a good thing in some cases with really toxic players but usually it causes a lack of communication in vital moments like teamfights or pushes.
people are triggered because they take the game too seriously, they don't understand that it's a fucking videogame and it's meant to be played to have fun
also matchmaking is shit, the system wants you to grind 10 games a day to get a higher mmr, and 20-30% of them are unwinnable unless you are 2-3k mmr above your bracket
It's funny because a lot of those accounts are bots. We actually have even fewer players than that. I hope the game gets fucked so Valve is forced to do something.
almost play dota twice a month now , the lack of new content can kill any online game no matter how good it is , look at league of legend , very simple game with stone age meta and the most boring competitive scene in the existence and yet , its player base grows larger because they are dedicated to keep the game alive , they release new heroes frequently , they try to renew the rune system , add more appealing for the newer playerbase
on the other hand the last few months of dota were the worst , unreasonable matchmaking , no updates of whatsoever , trash server state , unreliable report system , it is just more tilt for me now than fun , i am waiting for dueling fate update to consider if things going to be better or not
matchmaking is garbage, need sth like overwatch, and more regular updates
other than that its fine i believe
i think a decent update which brings new stuff to the game would fix everything....not just these balancing patches cuz that shit boring af.....also they shouldnt put everything in one patch like they did in 7.00 and become a sitting duck for the rest of the year....put something new in every patch
I actually get really solid games, maybe this behavior score thing is the source of the problem for some people.
I have 9k BS and I still got (fellow) Indonesians which talk like he's a god on huskar but actually carried hard on Pugna support (lul) back every teamfight

I'm not that good that game either, but I took both t1 and t2 sidelane towers, as well as bot and mid rax sets by using their teamfight (somehow enemies ignore me lol). Were they expect me to die alongside them when I could take rax instead?
^actually needs some input here
Also found out that pike is bad for farming purpose. Maelstorm yasha into skadi is better than lance mael pike into skadi
Since I started the game has always had 13million+ unique players each month over the last 6 months or so it has dropped to around 12million unique players.
Game isn't dying. Your toxic experience with the community doesn't mean everyone has the same issue.
For one look at a game like overwatch. It's a completely different genre. Sure it's team based with abilities not just an fps shooter like call of duty, but at it's essence it's still a single player experience. Dota isn't. Thus it's always going to seem more toxic when you lose and there's not a damn thing you can do about it.
Second is community, how can valve not make people toxic?
Third remember that the vast majority of dota matches are normal, not ranked, and really, really low skill like equivalent mmr of 2k or so. All those little distribution graphs for mmr are ranked only which is only like 20% of dota matches and naturally going to be higher. The median normal skill player is a lot lower. Those players are just dicking around and enjoying themselves. And when they come here you all make fun of them and talk about how awful they are.
So no the game isn't dying, it's just hard to be a really good competitive game solo. If you play party only I'll bet you'll have a blast, otherwise you have to embrace it for what it is or quit. No one is forcing you to play.
So you Come Here with fucking 1.6k mmr and say game is dieing cuz your teammates cant play there role? Wtf is this? Some strange Kind of comedy?
I didn't drink cola for some time but i'm ok. I didn't play dota for some time - I miss it so much. The point is, no, such game can't die as of now
no it is not dying, this drop in player count happens naturally everytime a hot new game gets introduced, which in this case is player unknown's battleground. but as time goes by that battle royale themed game will also lose its appeal and those players will come back reverting to dota. this has happened to dota for years now and it is nothing to worry about
Only things that keeps me kind of playing is friends. I have lost the want to get that +25.
I hope the Dota card game will be good
I hope dueling fates will be like patch 8.00 because they say it has some connection to Artifact.
Three reasons:
1. PUBG blew up, maybe you haven't noticed but it's been number one on Twitch for a while now, it's not even cause there's a special event going on for the game, it's just insanely popular now, it's the next big thing.
2. Not only that, look at that this steam stats chart, PUBG has been number one for 2 weeks now, About a month ago they were fighting for first place, maybe a 2 months ago, it would always be one or the other, now PUBG is undisputed most played game on steam. If you think Dota numbers are lower, SO ARE COUNTER STRIKES, the game is at 264K, it's always been 380+K, so even CSGO has taken a hit by the new phenoms that are Overwatch (although hype died down abit, still big though) and PUBG.
Just watch the stats chart every week and Top twitch games.

3. People are waiting for the new Dota 2 update
Hope that answers it.
we need more people like this "ok, if you want mid then i'll go other position then" not "you mid ? 2 mid then"
we need more people like this "it's only 1 racks, we still have sidelanes racks to defend, just try" not "report mid" and "GG ANT"
we need more people like this "oh my team asks me to pick *this* hero, i'll pick it then" not "i play what i want"
we don't need players with this kind of nickname :
1. *cool name* then he added (carry only)
2. mid or 2 mid, mid or feed, mid or carry, etc
3. *cool name* then he added (booster)
we don't need players like this :
1. trust me pls (most of them can't be trusted)
2. my real account is 6k (why don't you play your real account then ?)
that's because you guys have played 5000 + matches , if we all did that , we'd all be literally dying
A shitpost caused solely because of a teenage kid who considers Justin Bieber the greatest artist of our time and thinks anything that doesn't change in a matter of weeks is stale and the game is dead just because he's bored of it. Don't get your panties up in a bunch and say "He won a TI, you aren't even close", I have great respect for his skills, but he's just like any other teen kid nowadays. People born post 2000 are an insult to millennials.
punish system should be reworked, you can feed and then just play single draft (which is just dota game mod) you cant lose your account because of bad behaviour since valve dont give a sh*t
lets face it, dota isnt dying, not even close. Still popular as fuck. Only ones saying that dota is dying are retards.
It's not fun because no limitations on new accounts/smurfs and the low prio/punishment system. Low IQ people think the game needs a report/punishment function. People that ruin games lose games, as such they can't win and stay at the same bracket. If you're bothered by flame you either mute or play well enough to not instigate that much discontent, again, players that get flamed lose more often, reach a bracket appropiately for their skill level in which their sucking levels out and flame minimized. If the flamer is wrong, he will be the one losing more often and fall from the bracket you meet him and won't flame you anymore.
^ People throw/ruin games even in 8k streamer level games. You're just an idiot. If you don't like low prio stop being toxic to your team
Also complaining about patches is dumb because this patch is really good and balanced. DotA is the most balanced moba by far
I hope dota never dies but if it does I would probs find another mobaif moba died in unsure what kind of game I would go to right now , prob back to console and ditch computer .

Saw this the other day and thought to myself that it had been almost two weeks since I last opened DotA 2. The replies to the tweet are full of people in the same position I was in. I figured that it couldn't be that bad so I tried to play a few games. Every game I was in was full of toxic morons that either couldn't play their role or refused to. I feel like the game is rapidly declining. When a game this big is starting to only have around 600k players daily and has been doubled in players by a Battle Royal game, I feel things have gotten pretty desperate.
Thoughts? And if you agree, is there anything Valve can do to fix it?
