Hey Kilban,
- We do not count private lobby matches, ever. They're not shown on any profile, and they are not aggregated anywhere. If you think or find a match where that is the case, please link it so we can look into it.
- We don't have a 100% sure way of knowing if a game counted or not, because Valve doesn't give us that data. That's why your stats will be slightly off from the ingame ones, there's nothing we can do about it.
- If you have a game which should have counted but didn't, or the other way around, let us know and we might be able to manually update it for you.
Hope that clarifies some stuff.
By lobby matches I mean private practice games, which is called a private lobby.
Parties with friends in normal matchmaking are still normal games and are counted as usual.

Hi,
Could you guys clarify how exactly you gather data from Steam? I noticed like many other people that sometimes the system does not count some matches, and then count others which were not counted as wins or losses in the game. I know matches in a lobby ARE taken into account, but other weirder stuff happen pretty regularly.
Abandons for example make things vary very much: I once won a game where someone in the opponent team left six minutes before the end, and it didn't count on Dotabuff; I lost a game where someone in my team disconnected for internet problems, and it counted.
Thank you for your answer.
