why does every match that i lose count as a loss for me in dotabuff?

This is because dota is a team game. Whatever the team does affects you whether you like it or not.

The game counts these games as losses, as well. Otherwise you could, for example, have a premade where one player always abandons before the game is lost -> 100% winrate for the other 4 players.

Since you also get a win if the enemy team prematurely leaves the game I don't see that much of a problem.
