How to improve my gameplay in dota2? in General Discussion

I've been playing dota2 for almost one year now. But i feel like theres still so many things i don't know about this game. Before i used to play lol, but this game seems much much more difficult. I do not have any knowledge about picks, teamsetups, counterpicks, antipush heros and so on. Lately ive felt like ive hit a wall, i'll keep losing all the time. One thing is teammates feeding, but also that iam playing worse than i used to. Some games i do well, we're ahead of the other team, but on the other hand we'll lose late game anyway, possible because their setup is much better late game, and can farm alot faster than we can. I want to get a better understanding about this game, but it feels hard to find any good advice anywhere. SO therefore i'm asking here, would anyone be so nice to take a look at my stats, and teel me how i can improve, and get a much better overall understanding about dota2.

    one and half gun

carry a tp, fight under tower, bait the other team, check runes, camp runes if you are support, smoke ganks

how come your winrate is 49% if almost every hero you played is 60% or higher?

Watch pro streams, tournaments, watch your own replays, and do drills on last hitting (sf no items/abilities mid trying to keep creep equillibrium). Or just harass Relentless since it seems like he helps everyone on here. Theres some good youtube videos on pulling/stacking, and warding spots both advanced and basic. Then you just need to improve your game knowledge through continuous playing usually of the same role or heroes. That pretty much teaches you all the pros/cons of that specific hero in any given situation and then your brain will just become accustomed to what you can or cannot expect.

Anyways, feeling lost in the sea of Dota2 mechanics/game knowledge is pretty common considering you've only played for a year. I find dotabuff plus is actually pretty useful in comparing item builds/skill builds between different brackets to see what you should build (cookie cutter) but that changes based on what the enemy is building (usually altho in normal/high I doubt you'd see much counter building of items (mkb vs evasion, heavenshalberd, sheeps etc))

Here's my advice to you... No matter how much knowledge you think you know, you will never get better by playing with players of your caliber. You NEED to play with players much better than you and you have to listen, listen, listen! Do not argue or try and defend yourself, just play and listen.

Thanks for all the answers. Great guide there, but also goddam long! :) . I'll try to read it when i get home from school.
Yeah normal bracket is also a problem... It seems that for about 2 weeks ago i had 8+wins, and was playing most of my games in high bracket, now that i lost alot and now are on 6- i've been moved down to the normal bracket. So now i have to prove that iam worthy to play in the high bracket again. Bogi i also added you as friend, to watch you play.

well 1 year isnt enough but you should be able to realize when someone is better than you --> thats a positive thing --> in which case do exactly what @waytohigh said, listen listen listen and execute. remember this is a team game. if u can do whatever your allie is expecting, combos will go smoother and it will be easier to win. think for yourself: if i was that guy what would i like myself to do. and you do it, simple.

                      I accepted. You are welcome = )

@alokin according to the guide Mist Coil can heal and damage siege creeps!!?? Aphotic Shield can aslo protect them?!

Wow just tested this...it does work. You can effectively increase your siege creeps hp to 1450 from 550 if you time 2 Mist Coils and 2 Aphotic Shields correctly. I would have never thought to attempt to cast on siege. You can also easily lasthit an attacking siege creep this way.
