Why is Dota Buff counting games that get a no stats recorded loss. in General Discussion

    It's really screwing my percentages.

      Are you confusing safe to leave leave with no stats?

      Totenkreuz

        Look at my most recent game, ended under 5 minutes and got a no stats recorded, yet it still shows up.

        Panimu

          Says 7:27 duration?

          Πηληϊάδεω

            same with me duration 4:15 minutes

            does not add a loss in dota 2 profile total losses

            but does count as loss in dotabuff total losses

              Looks like Spooky-Skel-D-man is the one messing up your win rate. Just play more with Lanerds.

                @Panimu

                We were paused for a good 3 or so minutes waiting for a disconnect that never came back

                  Hi!

                  Briefly from our FAQ:

                  The Dota API does not supply enough information for determining a win or loss from a match that doesn't count. We have an in-house algorithm that has over 99% accuracy, but it cannot be sure in all situations.

                  If Valve adds support to the API that allows us to determine whether a match counted, we will retroactively fix all matches and recalculate records.

                  I hope this helps. Thanks!

                    It is not over 99%. It's 70-80%
                    If all 10 heroes are picked and on the map, you can never know whether it will count or not even if the abandon happened before first blood.
                    There are some cases where it almost always fails to get the correct result:
                    - Games with less than 10 heroes will never count on DB but they sometimes will in Dota if FB happened before the dodge. (example: http://dotabuff.com/matches/345343861 - this game gave me a win in doto)
                    - If the (early)abandon happens at the same time as first blood (rage after/right before fb).
                    - If the early abandon happens at min 7-8+ with one or more kills.

                      @kidades

                      It's important for humans to be humble, because they have the propensity to overstate their own experiences and make extremely flawed inferences. You said almost always an early abandon after FB will result in an error. In my experience, those games are always counted accurately. In fact, here is one I just had:
                      http://dotabuff.com/matches/346574714
                      The lone druid died within 1 or 2 minutes and then immediately disconnected. DotA 2 counted the game as did Dotabuff.

                        Well my experience is very different. It got the wrong result on about 15% of my games with early abandons.
                        In my last 15 games, 2 counted wrong; the one in my last post and this one: http://dotabuff.com/matches/338919298

                        Sven disconnected right after creeps spawned and didn't come back. The reconnect timer expired and it was an early abandon. Didn't count in dota but I got a loss on DB.

                        I am not sure about ragequitting right after fb since I didn't have many of those games but my two other points still stand
                        - Games with less than 10 heroes will never count on DB but they sometimes will in Dota.
                        - If the early abandon happens at min 7-8+ with one or more kills.

                        The first is not likely to happen but the second is. The game with Sven I've given is a perfect example.
                        1. Player disconnects early in the game BEFORE first blood.
                        2. Action happens during the 5 minutes he has to reconnect.
                        3. He gets an abandon, game doesn't count in dota.

                        From my experience, this has almost always given inaccurate results on DB. Maybe it was just my bad luck but I doubt it.
