i wonder how they will handle recalibration? does ur "hidden rank" change, while ur trophy or w/e does not? or can u feed 24/7, and recalibrate the same as long as u do fine during calibration? im confused

i think they mean that while ur mmr(and thus the avg of ur games) will drop ur medal will still display the highest rank
i.e if ure 3k and matched with a rapier u almost certainly know know its an accbuyer

anw its a speculation but i dont believe they would be stupid enough to not decrease ur actual mmr(the blog only mentions medals) if u lose a lot

your current rank is the medal. You get another medal to display, which is your highest rank you've ever achieved

ur current rank is *represented* by a medal, but there is no incentive to think it actually means anything and anyhow affects matchmaking

so u have ranked, but u have a recalibration and a medal that shows ur highest mmr

so its ranked with a recalibration

If you are 5k you will get 5k games but you will only face divine players if you are divine yourself?

maybe not removing numbers/current mmr shown ingame because they are both extremely important (maybe not in lower mmr without discrepancy)?

its pretty much unranked now, you only know your own mmr and the overall estimate of the game by looking at the medals everyone has. it stopped mmr inflation though, looks like the highest you can calibrate is around 7k

how are the calibration games btw, are they a total shitfest like they used to be?

instead of being represented by a number, they can tweak around with the values needed now.

i played 3 games, 1 was autoloss pretty much, the other 2 were fine, even though i lost 1 of them. i didnt see any exceptionally bad players but no 9ks either. people just dont know how to pick heroes and then they wonder why they lost.

it seems calibration doesnt change anything unless ure super high/low mmr which i guess was the reason they decided to recalibrate people instead of just converting their old mmrs
