Dotabuff win rates can be abused? in General Discussion
Crudude

Hi I just had a game against a person on my steam list, and I had previously thought he was really really good from looking at his dotabuff profile (54 % win rate over 2000 games)
In this game he lost and played pretty shit --> farmed well but pretty much ignored his team while we steamrolled them.

But now I looked at his profile and the game doesn't show on dotabuff, in fact he has won most of his games over the last 3 months according to dotabuff.
I checked and his game before this one he lost too but I went even further back and there were many games not showing on dotabuff that are on his steam that he lost even before the last game that he won.

I assume he unchecks the box in settings just before he loses a match? How is this allowed that it doesn't update the games in between? Do I never trust a dotabuff profile again? :(

Compare the 2. They don't match.

      yes, it works, and?

So basically someones profile with an 80 % win rate could be fake?

        TripleSteal-

          exactly

          Look at me, Hector.

yeah but it doesnt matter, people like vroksnak bribe dotabuff with money and pay for dotabuff plus while doing that shit and he got like 5 accounts in unranked russia where he strictly five man stacks

Is dotabuff going to fix this?
I know of lots of super amateur teams that use dotabuff profiles to recruit people so it's using dotabuff very deceptively.
(In fact this guy added me from reddit when I posted about wanting to enter a normal skill team into TI qualifiers for fun)

They could use the MMR bot to double check your matches. Maybe if your profile is double checked correctly it says so by your name (A star/tick) That way people who do have it are more trusted.

I kinda want to cancel my dotabuff plus if they don't care :/

I tried doing this once, and if I remeber correctly it will automatically update your games, both wins and losses unless you bother turning off and on "share match history" on a regular basis.

These issues should fix themselves with time. This method only works temporarily. I am now seeing the drow game on his profile. Are there other games you expected to see that are not showing up?

                  Crudude

                    @Lawliepop

Okay I see all those games are there now, but then I wonder why he does it if it's only temporarily or if he actually updated his match history after I asked him about it xD --> and it seems he deserves all those green wins then
But if it's temporary that's awesome thanks!

Edit: Nvm Quite interesting that the activity section hasn't updated the losses as of yet (but probably will later) , but his win rate dropped from 54 % to 49 % --> massive drop
So either he must have updated his match history or you guys just did, either way seems like he was able to do it for months
