The base attack time nerf is actually quite big, it's equivalent to -9% damage during the whole game. This wont hinder his infest-bomb echo sabre insta-gibb potential, but he will have a considerably harder time man-fighting other carrys now.

Theoretically, should it alter his core item builds? The choice between Phase boots/Power threads and rushing Armlet for example.

There was never a choice of treads or phase for naix. And increasing BAT doesn't suddenly make attack speed more valuable. And 50 gold doesn't ever make him throw away armlet either.

Honestly, the BAT changes only matter when you are hitting targets constantly. His laning is untouched cause that doesn't matter for last-hitting. It will take him like 4 seconds more to kill rosh. Basically you get one less attack for every 10 attacks if you are focusing a target, sometimes will make a difference, but not a big deal IMO.

@Luxon Nice insight, thanks. Your explanation made it clearer for me. Would probably have to try him out in an actual game to see whether or not the impact of the BAT change is significant.

He's definitely still strong, but there had to be something done, he had a 80% winrate at Manila. Luxon is right, his laning is still the same, the instakill potential is also untouched, it's really just his man-fighting and killing locked down targets that got considerably nerfed.

I just tried out troll in the hero demo version thing and realised how strong this hero could be again. He fell very significantly out of favour, but with this +3 extra armour buff and the +60hp from the strength gain it more than offsets the 100hp loss. The extra fervour stacks also mean that when he gets up to 7 stacks he gets +210 attack speed - he used to get +140. Plus his Base Attack Time in melee form is now 1.5 which means he attacks even faster. We can all remember the times playing against this hero when you would just on him and nearly burst him down to zero only for him to survive because of how tanky his item build would be, then turn around and pop ulti and stun bash and regen up to full health again. He also benefits from some of the item changes - eg SnY giving a high slow chance for melee units, butterfly just got extra agility, diffusal blade does more damage on the main hero (so he gets +75 damage per hit from diffusal 2), satanic active last longer, echo sabre can help build up his fervour stacks faster etc etc.

In fact his average winrate is up 1.2% just today and he's dominating in the 5K+ games - 60% winrate.

I have a 1 meter wide Lifestealer poster above my bed. He is now a dead hero in my eyes.

I was thinking before 3-4 months when he started recieveing buffs. (first one was the 50% lifesteal on open wounds) that he should have just gotten a 1.6 BAT and be really cool...
