In my 2nd game a fresh account. at some point I dropped to NS because of a lose-streak but stomped that game with like 30 KDA and never dropped from VHS again. Calibrated at 4.3k.
I was previously stuck in mid-low 3k, believing I belong there and that's just how dota is. This is why I encourage people to recalibrate rather than push 500 rating if they believe they deserve a better place on the ladder.
btw, back then the average MMR was estimated to be in the low 2k and the top 1% was ~4.4k+ - now it's low 3k, and the top 1% is ~5.2.
also, in the 3k, people barely play to win - they play to have fun, and they pick heroes they want to play regardless of the lineup. (actually) the majority of players would rather pick a support iron talon slark than a lion or smth.
I have 1,229 normal skill matches, 907 high. I turned VHS over a year ago.. so, I would say about 1500 is accurate.
What to expect? I first noticed while offlaning that supports were getting smarter: they'd wrap around by waiting in the fog (secret shop and such). I don't remember anything else, but people get better at everything the higher the mmr.. so.

I'm talking about the first time you ever acheived VHS (and stayed there). Just curious and wondering what to expect.
