Overcoming meepo counters in General Discussion

Hi there. Ive been playing meepo quite abit and have had some sucess. Im planning to use this hero to uplift my mmr but i do feel that I need to outplay his counters first. Do note that I am comfortable with microing my meepos and i can blinkpoof decently. Im having serious trouble with sven, winter wyvern and ember. Sven and winter bursts me down way too fast. Ember is too slippery. I understand that i can get a sheepstick and that does ease some issues but when Im up against several counters im just fucked. I also always try to get the last pick. I dont have problems with earth shakers but the heroes above just shit on me. Should i be building skadis and hearts for the sole purpose of surviving their nukes or is it a flaw in my gameplay? I have no clue. Can any experienced players share some light on this topic? Anyways i appreciate any help. Thanks in advance. Im just a 2.7 scrub trying to get better. Btw ive been playing other heroes more lately but I will be prioritsing meepo over others in the future.

U should not worry about ember that much. Experienced Meepo players always tries to end the game before 40 min because this hero farms too fast that u become 6 slotted at 30-35 min. U cant improve beyond that but your enemies always does. If game exceeds 40 min, it means there is something wrong and you lose your effectiveness by alot. And ember counters meepo at late game where meepo is bad at already. Ember has to buy linken or bkb against meepo which will delay his effectiveness alot so it gives you more time to end the game and it means 1 less battlefury or daedalus. There is not much you can do against sven even with a hex + 2 etheral, you need your team to focus, distract or chainstun on him while you deal with others. Its not the case with winter tho. You always have to wait for winter show himself and blink + hex + right click to death her.

Thanks so much man. This is great advice. Sometimes i find myself prioritising kills over farm. I realise now that i should just get big and at that peak, proceed to end. Thanks again !

        dunce

u can actually finish the game in 25min with ur sick farming speed

ember is hilariously shit as a counter, even better hes shit in the game at the moment
sven isnt TOO much of a problem because you should be able to outfarm him and his team anyway and end before 30 mins
with wyvern, send your clones on her and eblade the one that gets cursed
by the time you hit lvl 17 just net-attack rosh, fight and end

i usually go for eaglesong by lvl 17 then take rosh and go for rax, this is usually the best way to wrap up early on meepo
              any more questions just ask
i play this little midget too much

ember isn't a counter. it's honestly approximately a 50-50 matchup. meepo+ember have similiar early game strength. meepo wins mid game, and ember wins late game. but meepo should be able to close the game before ember gets too big.

sven is a problem. just try to sheep and burst him when his bkb is down, but a good sven won't let that happen. so that's just tough luck, sven beats meepo. just pray he makes mistakes. even great players make mistakes.

wyvern, just hold ur prime meepo back and eblade the curse.

you are welcome m8. prioitising kills actually helped me alot against sven tho. Since sven is the number 1 counter to meepo, there is not much you can do about it. So i play as a nuker against sven and i gank our safelane so much that most of the time i found my safelane carry kill the sven for me in teamfights. And when i gank sven i chain net him from distance with my meepos while my team kills him before he gets bkb

As salty as me pops pool ^bro im really curious. Do you happen to be a friend of Azylon? I think ive seen you in his party a few times. Would be cool cause then we can play together XD

Thanks for the advice doe. The eblade thing is clever. I do want to ask about rosh. I see pro players aggroing rosh and then throw out nets to keep him at the tip of the pit. Why exactly do they do that?

i am a friend of azy yes
you pull rosh out and net him there so he doesnt hit you or use slam so you can come out of rosh with 100% hp on all meepos

I also would like to ask about item progression. Usually i go for bots into aghs into a blink. From there i usually itemise accordingly into either dragon lances, ethereal blade, or a sheepstick. Would there be any exceptions in the items themselves or the order in which they are purchased for greater benefit? For example would there be situations where getting aghs before bots or blink before aghs be better? On top of that, would you recommend getting a bottle mid? Usually i dont but after watching a few pro games, it appears to give good sustain to farm fast. Not sure if its worth the gold though. :/

                          Rocket

I think bottle slows your bots unnecessarily. If lane is hard you still only need to soak exp until level 5 and then you can finish bots quickly in jungle.

if you are struggling to get bots, you'd be better off getting treads rather than aghs.

personally I like a skadi if there're things like earthshaker/enigma/warlock around.

often get a diffusal after hex to pre-empt the expected linkens. also good to purge quite a few things or setup nets as a poorman's hex.

I think multiple dragonlances are marginal now that the stats got nerfed (slightly).

I see. Good stuff. Thanks man!

you should not get bottle, you have more than 1 mouth to feed. Dragon lance is a core item imo but if the enemy has omni, i skip it and buy diffusal instead. Also, i dont recommend upgrading dragon lance. If you have no item slot left, sell it and buy etheral instead.
