You would build auras and utility items, mostly just things that would make the bear tankier. The reason your not seeing people put any items on the bear is because the game rarely goes late enough that you have extra money to spend on the bear.

Feeding the bear is not such a big issue. You might feed him 3 times every 20 min which is 900 gold. But if you look at all the benefits that the bear provides, it is totally worth it. In laning he is a plus hero with >1400 HP, he could take bounty, camp stack and creep block. He is very handy in farming, tanking creeps and making you farm faster(also tanking rosh). In team fight he is a 100dps+root+roar. You could use him as ward and courier. He pushes very well too.

Ld games dont go late enough to slot the bear. U wud just put aura's and shit on it, vlads, ac, maybe an abyssal, solar crest etc

I have seen a lot of Lone Druid players not itemising the bear even in late game. This cannot be it, right? That is 10% of your HP gone right there. I do not understand why you would completely waste a hero skill because of a talent. It might be because people are too lazy to control both of them, so they play the Druid and only summon the bear when pushing without enemy interference.
So what do you buy on Lone Druid's bear? If you are playing the sniper Druid, of course.
