you are free to shuffle the roles sometimes depending on ur picks cz obviously both of them have their strong and weak heroes for both positions, and they do not necesarilly coincide
It's very simple, look at all players heropool and then figure out which of those 2 are the most versitile in each role. If you see 1 mid player having a bigger heropool then in either, then go for it. Otherwise do as triple said, just tryout what works best.
Which of the two is more comfortable with the role? I would personally prefer putting the more mechanically skilled player Mid and a stable player in the safelane.
